Ryan Benson - Ryan is one of our Weekly Referral Contest winners from last November, who has a heart of gold. Only having joined MyDreamHunts a few days before, Ryan jumped on his horse to round up close to one hundred friends to win a 7 day Colorado Archery Elk Hunt. What’s interesting about Ryan’s story is not just that he got that many referrals and won the hunt, but that he did it for his friend Brandon, who was injured in an accident that left him wheel chair bound and unable to fire a rifle because of the incessant ringing in his ears.

Ryan set out to win this specific hunt (it had to be an archery hunt, or Brandon couldn’t go) by posting Brandon’s story on his blog, sending out e-mails to friends, relatives and colleagues. He didn’t stop there, but spent an extraordinary amount of time on the phone, making sure that all of his contacts knew about Brandon’s story. Here is an excerpt from Ryan’s blog:

“We need your help. I am trying to win a hunt for one of my buddies, Brandon Sulser. Brandon is a great guy, who hasn’t been able to hunt for several years due to an accident that put him in a wheel chair. Due to the injury, he is not able to shoot a gun (his ears are still ringing from the last time he tried.) So we need a very specific kind of crossbow hunt. We have been working on this for some time and think we can help Brandon win the hunt.” Ryan went on to explain in simple terms how to register as a member on MyDreamHunts.com and get him the referrals he needed to win the hunt for Brandon.

We applaud his determination and thank all of his friends who pitched in and joined up as members. We are anxious to hear about the hunting trip that Ryan and Brandon are going to take in 2010, and are sure you’ll want to read that story as well.
