Hunting Lodges
Hunting lodges are found in every state in the USA. Different hunting lodges usually specialize in a particular game. Finding one with the game you are interested in increases the chances of collecting that great trophy you have dreamed of bagging. Some hunting lodges are equipped to tailor to your level of expertise, whether you are a beginner or a more experienced hunter. Others are equipped to accommodate different levels of physical abilities. The most accommodating will help you drag or pack-out the kill and clean it. Most will dress the meat and cool it properly to preserve freshness. If mounting the head is of interest, they can recommend someone local who is skilled to do a good job.
The more posh hunting lodges may offer other activities such as golfing, hiking nature trails, or more restful sedate activities such as bird watching, fly fishing, shooting clay pigeons, or even riding all-terrain vehicles. Some include pubs, a ballroom and theater. The more rustic lodges stick to hunting during the day, depending on chats with other hunters around a campfire or an indoor or outdoor fireplace for entertainment in the evening. You just can’t beat sitting around a roaring fire on a cool brisk autumn or spring evening sharing your stories with other trophy hunters. The best part is learning each other’s “secrets” on how to find and bag the biggest trophy.
Some lodges have a main lodge with several cabins located on surrounding acreage, giving the opportunity to choose accommodations that provide a sense of privacy. Some offer breath-taking mountain views, while others give you sense of living on a well run large farm, or in a wilderness setting.
Some lodges are located on enormous amounts of acreage. Some are located on flat land; others stretch into the mountain slopes where you will likely enjoy mountain streams containing various fish species.
Some lodges are located on tracts of land that are adjacent to national forests, providing vast numbers of acreage for hunting and exploration. Some lodges may even be located on the National Forest utilizing special use permits with the U.S.F.S.
Hunting is usually guided or semi guided. The staff can drop you off at your stand, which greatly reduces the amount of walking. They may bring you lunch and pick you at the end of the day. Some lodges are located on such rugged terrain that a fair amount of physical stamina is required, especially in the higher mountain elevations. Some lodges furnish horses in order to reach higher elevations where there are no roads and few trails.
The choice of pursuing luxury or adventure in a wilderness setting, depends on your personal desires and tastes. Of course the size of your pocket book and your physical stamina are key components to an exciting adventure that you will remember for a life time, whether the trophy you bagged is a wild boar in Tennessee, a moose in Alaska, or a trophy pronghorn in Wyoming. Your trophy could be an enjoyable day in the great outdoors with people who enjoy the sport, not feeling disappointed if you missed a shot. There is always another opportunity!
Keep in mind, when making reservations for the Dream Hunt of a lifetime, that certain states limit specific types of game for their own residents, which can exclude you, if you reside out of state. The hunting lodges you choose to contact and interview will be happy to furnish all information required, but it is up to you to formulate and ask the specific questions. It is recommended that you look at a wide range of lodges available to you both nearby and at greater distances. Evaluate your time, your goals and your own personal tastes, utilizing your own personal criteria. The Internet has a wide array of choices to choose from.
